Hi Everybody!Idriss and I finally made it to the Klimt Villa and spent a wonderful afternoon there together with the doctors from St. Anna. It was a really special visit where Dr. Becker was kind enough to show us the upstairs and other hidden treasures in the villa. We found the little chair Klimt used to sit on most curious - it is really tiny.
Many many thanks to Susan for making this visit possible and to Dr. Becker for providing us with all the background stories that you just don't find in any book.
All our best to you all,
Barbara & Idriss.
PS: If we manage we'll upload more pictures to share with you the experience and document the state of the building before the planned remodelling.

Gross Gott Barbara and Idriss:
Glad that you had such a great tour, Dr. Becker is really a wealth of information on Klimt and Vienna. You got to go up to the second floor, that is great, hardly anyone gets to go up there. The villa and the gardensa are really something tosee since it is the last known place associaed with Klimt in Wien still standing. Hope the Belvedere does a good job with thie new project
You and Idriss look so happy in the photo, glad that you were able to share this together as you start your life together living in Wien. Hope you have many more wonderful experinces togehter.
Have a cool and wonderful weekend.

I second everything Susan says above. You look like the new owners! Glad you enjoyed it. I have been extolling the virtues of the Klimt Villa for several years now and I am always happy to read people's special experiences there. I just hope that really is Idriss and not another example of Barbara's Photoshop expertise?!

Hi Everyone:
Duncan, good to read you again. Glad that you did not get swept away. Our best to your countreymen as they try to recoup their lives in Yorkshire.
Yes, Herr Dr. Idriss dis us Americans proud, very handsome and in a suit and tie in 90 degree weather with no AC. No casual Fridays for him.
Hope you all get the watch the Concert for Diana live from Wembly Stadium on July 1st. Good cause and what wonderful humanitarian she was! It is the world's loss. Hope her two wonderful sons carry on her important work.
Stay cool everyone.

Good to read you all!
I wish we were the new owners of the Klimt Villa! We are still looking for our apartment and it's like looking for a (tiny) needle in a (very large) haystack. The Klimt Villa is well cut, large, beautifully located (apart from the railroad noise) and has a wonderful garden. I certainly wouldn't mind living there - maybe even discover some artistic talent :-) I would see myself putting together a nice museum downstairs with guided tours and a cafe. One can always dream and I think every Vienneese dreams of a bit of green every now and then, though no one might have dreamt before of living in a place where Klimt once lived. Well some people did, but they didn't know they did. They must feel quite cheated on their living experience I suppose.
I hope you're all up and well and I wish you a nice remaining weekend.
Barbara
