Beckhams in DC - off Vienna topic

Hi Everyone:
Our blog has been rather slow lately, so I thought that I would "jazz" it up.
The Beckhams are in DC now, in fact, Becks as he is called is staying in an Arlington hotel only a few blocks from my apt! Fancy that!
The whole town is crazy for him, it is a slow news day, now that the Prez and the Congress are out of town, not much is going on. I guess DC is now really a "backwater", right Richard?
Anyway, looking forward to seeing Posh or whatever her name is in the papers tomorrow since she only carries Hermes Birkins and has one in every color to match her Chanel outfits!
All the best to everyone on our blog and stay cool!

Hi Susan,

Sorry I'm not participating much lately - my work is keeping me busy. I just got an invitation to write a book chapter that I have to finish before our trip to Tunisia. Which is great but yet more work.

How are things going in DC. I just realized you never mentioned that you were moving. Congrats to your new apartment.

Idriss and I are still looking for a place. I recall that Duncan and Rosie are also looking - it can be very frustrating but certainly is most interesting to see how other people live and furnish their apartments - things one couldn't imagine in his wildest dreams.

Other than that the weather is not too hot here - which is great. I don't like 40 degrees and up in a city. On a beach maybe but Vienna is much more enjozable at these temperatures. And we have been somewhat spared from the Beckham hype. Although as you can imagine the newspapers do cover it.

What you may not know though - the austrian society has had a divorce lately. Mr. Moertel (lugner who invited Paris Hilton) and Mrs. Mausi got divorced after 17 years. This even made it to them main news and shook the Austrians. Not that it was unexpected (they threaten each other with that for a long time already) but they had their own daily soap where you could watch them... Doesn't affect us at all but I thought as a Vienna fan maybe that is somewhat interesting (Mr. Lugner also ran for president some years ago and got more than 9% of the votes)

Well I'll leave you here and go for a nice walk hopefully not in the rain.

We're both looking forward to seeing you in September Susan.

Have a nice remaining weekend

Hello Barbara,
Thanks for your post. Sorry you are woking so hard, bet you will enjoy your upcoming trip! You certainly deserve it.
I had to move my apt here in DC, since my previous one was sold to build condos for rich DC yuppies. I moved into a very nice place on October 1 and was so tired from moving, I barely made it to the Austrian Embassy here for the eleciton party, which was quite fun. I only just started empyting my bags full of clothes and shoes and may decide to stop doing that, since it is too hot even with AC for that.
You might think about buying in Baden and commute in on the Badener Bahn. My friend who works at the Belvedere does that and really enjoys it. The prices are a lot cheaper and it is a good place to raise children.
Hope it stays cool for you and that you and Idriss find time to enjoy yourself.
All the best
