Autumn in Vienna

Dear All

A few images taken during a recent Autumn stroll through Vienna's First District. Can you recognise them?

Best wishes - Duncan

Hi Duncan,

I was about to post something so that our lovely blog doesn't get a winter depression (it certainly feels like winter doesn't it?).

Thanks a lot for your great pics. Where did you take the two middle ones?

Idriss and I are currently very busy (even more than usual), me having now two students to supervise all the time and so I end up not having any time for my work during the day and get to push my experiments in the early morning and late afternoon/evening. My studies are being pushed even farther into the night and so I unfortunately am not too present on email and blogging.

I hope Susan arrived safely back home. We found that we have some nice pics from our movie night - thanks a lot for coming. It was so nice to have you over and enjoy watching the movie with you. Sorry I was so tired though (same story). Once I have my MD and PhD things should improve :-)

Well I'm looking forward to all of you blogging and maybe seeing you again soon. When are you coming to lovely Vienna again Susan?

Cheers,
Barbara.

Glad you like them, Barbara.
The middle ones are: the "Innenhof" of the Pasqualatihaus, on Mölker-Bastei, where Beethoven lived; and the other is a detail of a doorway just around the corner, at the Dreimäderlhaus, where Schubert reputedly loitered!
Your movie evening was indeed most enjoyable - and memorable. We go to Egypt and Jordan on Thursday for 2 weeks, but will be in touch after our return.
Until the, with best wishes - Duncan

Hello Barbara and Duncan:
Was the first one the "fake" Last Supper in the Minoritekirche?
Barbara, sorry that you are working so hard, yes, thank you for a wonderful Wien movie night. Please feel free to show Scorpio to other Wien friends of yours. I missed Sand in the City, really wanted to see that. I will be back from November 22 - November 27 and am looking forward to seeing you again. I read that Wien will have a new museum, close to the Rathaus, this one is a "cultural" museum, rather an oxymoror, right Duncan, exhibiting Wien artists' art works. Also, heard it snowed on Saturday, here in DC it was 80 degrees.
So much for global warming, light bulbs and Al Gore!
