Prague and Francesca von Habsburg Article

Gross Gott:

I have just learned that when I am in Wien in May, I have to travel to Prague to meet my friend, William Lobkowitz (now Furst Wilhelm Lobkowitz) at his new cafe/restaurant in the Palais Lobkowtiz close to the Hardarcy Palace.
Can anyone suggest a quick way to get to Prague from Wien. I have been there once before and took the train from the Sudbahnof and it took 5 hours each way. Horrors! Is there something like the Eurostar going from Wien to Prague? I want to go up and back the say day.

Also, there was a great article in the New York Times Magazine on Francesca von Habsurg and Vienna. It was very insightful and gave me a different take and perspective on her. I think that she is getting to be regarded as a serious collector of art for the 21st Century much the same as her father was for the last century. I will try to post it if I can figure out how. If not, I will send it to our Blogmaster and he can post it.

Hope you all are doing great for a Monday.

Hi Susan,

I know what you mean - the trip there via train is not very comfortable... I'll ask a colleague of mine who is from Prague and travels there frequently.

I'm sorry I'm not very present in this blog so far - I'm extremely busy catching up with my work that has piled up in my absence.

Have a great day!

Hello Barbara,

ok, thanks for your help with this. Your colleague probably knows some quick ways that I wouldnt know about.

Hope you are feeling better and not working too hard with your work piling up.

Great to read you on our blog, dont you think it is a great way to stay in touch?

I email Dr. Becker about you and Idriss and the other physicians touring the Klimt villa/atelier, but have not heard back. If I dont hear by cob today, I will email him again.
Hope you also have a great Tuesday and are having great weather in Wien. Also, thank you for the wonderful work you do with your research. You are helping a lot of people all over the world!
all the best to you and Idriss,

Hi Susan,

You are absolutely right - this is a great way for all of us to stay in touch and share pictures, exchange ideas etc..

So I talked to my colleague today and as a matter of fact he is going to Prague today, taking the bus. He however, takes the bus for financial reasons. It's about 30 Euros forth and back. The train obviously costs more. Both the train and the bus take about 4h30min. However, there is a new train called "SuperCity", which is about 30 minutes faster.

For the train schedule you can look up www.oebb.at and for the buslines you can look up

http://www.eurolines.at/index_en.php

I hope I could help you there. Now my cells need my assistance again - a food dispenser for cell lines (the way they have them for pets) has not been invented for my cells yet ;-).

all the best to you

Gross Gott Barbara,

thanks for much for the info; it is very helpful. Isnt so much about the moeny cause my firm will pay for it since it is business related, I just hate to take the train cause you really never see any of the country since it goes so fast. I would much prefer the bus since you would have stops can get out for a few mintues, etc. Iwill look into the bus and also the SuperCity schedule.
Hope you are getting back into the swing of things and not working so hard until you get your health back.
I will write today by the cob to Dr. Becker about the Kilmt villa. Do you and Idriss have any idea when you would like to go? You can go as many times as you want, there is no charge, it is ver convenient to reach via the 58 Tram or the U4 to St. Veit station and then walk to Feldmulergasse about a 10 minute walk.
HOpe you all have a greatr day in Wien.
all the best

Hi Susan,

I'm glad I could help. Maybe you can tell us how it was in Prague after your trip. Neither one of us has been there yet and it is definitely a city worth seeing.
When are you going to Prague exactly?

As far as the Klimt atelier is concerned, I'll ask Idriss and either one of us will get back to you. Your help is very much appreciated.

Talking about Windows, I just learned that the new Windows (the one after Windows vista) is going to be called Windows Vienna. You didn't have anything to do with that name by any chance did you ;-). Of course I'm only teasing.

Have a great day!

Gross Gott Barbara,

sorry not to respond yesterday, but it was busy here.
In any case, I will let you know about Praha (Prague) I was there once before and really enjoyed it. Too much smoking though and for me, it doesnt have the charm of Wien. But they have a great Hermes store and they are not on the Euro so I do enjoy shopping there. Plus the Alfonse Mucha Art Noveau, which I really like.
I hear about the new Windows and unforatunatley didnt have anything to do with the name. But I know that Mr. Gates has been to Wien for computer conferences, etc.many times, he usually stays at the Palais Schwartzenberg Hotel and helicopters into their heli pad.
I think it is a great idea for MS and hope it does well in Europe.
I am working on you all getting into the Klimt atelier with Dr. Becker to show you around. Mention that you know Duncan because Dr. Becker thinks the world of Duncan.
I will send you an update on the Klimt villa tour.
Have a great day in great Wien!
